Olivier Longpré's sophisticated paintings are auto-fictions. They are intimate and feel real but are not realistic. Longpré strives for ambiguity in his works. His masterful technique, his sense of texture, colour and light, together with his exceptional talent foretell a brilliant career. To date, he has studied with some of the finest contemporary artists such as Tom Hopkins and Peter Krausz.
Longpré graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University in Montreal. He has been the recipient of several awards including the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation grant, a Canada Council for the Arts grant and the David L. Stevenson Scholarship for the Fine Arts.
